After a Bay Area Rapid Transit employee was "badly injured" after being struck by a train, Bart service has been stopped between the Lafayette and Concord stations. The accident happened at about 9:35 a.m. this morning. According to the Gate, a BART worker "familiar with the situation said the worker who was hit was not breathing when emergency personnel reached him." More details to come.

Update (12:55 p.m.): The worker died later this morning. Our condolences.

Also, westbound trains are being turned around at Concord, eastbound passengers must change trains at Lafayette and catch a shuttle, which will take you to the Pleasant Hill station. "There is no estimated time for a return to normal service."
