Even as the Chronicle eliminates 125 positions across its print and web organizations, they're creating new ones -- in upper management, that is. Take, for example, Mark Adkins, who was named President of the San Francisco Chronicle and its online twin, SFGate.com, today.
Also, aside from yet another obvious nail in print publishing's coffin, what does that title even mean? What does the President of the SF Chronicle do? Your guess is as good as ours. But according to the press release, he will "oversee both print and online revenue initiatives and business development for the company's suite of products."
But still: President? This is a new role (not to mention quite the title) at the Chron. SFist readers and Chron/SFGate insiders, feel free to give us your thoughts in the comments as to what it all means.
Oh, and be sure to read the full press release after the jump.
