While working at Fifth and Market streets, an unidentified 35-year-old man was verbally accosted and then attacked by a passerby. According to the Gate:

[T]he unidentified suspect approached and began to shout slurs and insults at the campaigner, who listened, thanked the man for his views and asked him to leave ... The angry man complied, but quickly returned and pulled out a knife and slashed the victim in the face

The attacker was arrested by nearby officers and the victim was treated at a nearby hospital. Yikes. Hope this isn't a sign of things to come. Anyway, the man is (physically) fine today.
