Mayor Gavin Newsom announced a few new appointments and reappointments to San Francisco Public Utilities Commission this morning. Newly appointed? Francesca Vietor, co-founder of 1000 Flowers, a non-partisan NGO dedicated to registering and mobilizing women to vote across the country; worked for such dagblasted hippie organizations as the Rainforest Action Network, Greenpeace, Island Press, and CARE Madagascar. (Yay!) Reappointed? People with loads of money. Ann Moller Caen, semi-society gal, philanthropist, and shared a bed with Herb. F.X. Crowley, served as President and Assistant Business Agent for Local 16 as well as Chairman of the IATSE District 2 Resolutions Committee, member of the San Francisco Labor Council Executive Committee, a Trustee for the San Francisco Maritime Trades Council, and a Member of the Hotel Council of San Francisco and the San Francisco Convention. So...there you go.
