Parking fines increased today. Some of you care, some of you could not care less. We understand. But San Francisco expects to collect somewhere around $103 million in parking fees this year. From you, that is. Here are a just a few increases: parking permits, $74; Japanese Tea Garden, $5; Coit Tower, $5; and a $10 increase to all parking fines under $100. Oh, and don't throw a beat down on any parking control officers over this, please? It's not their fault. According to CBS 5, "In 2006, there were 28 assaults on parking control officers, and in 2007 there were half as many," with only three assaults in 2008 so far. Which is good, all things considered.
