Our dear friends over at the Daily Clog tell us that tomorrow's Spare the Air Day, -- where you can ride public transit for free until noon tomorrow, June 19 -- will be the last one, ever. What? This is terrible news.
Anyway, the Air District and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission are sponsoring tomorrow's ride-from-hell (beware of the rookie rider!) where transit will be free all day on Bay Area bus and light-rail systems, but only up until noon on BART, trains (Caltrain, ACE, and Capitol Corridor), and ferries (Golden Gate, Alameda, and Vallejo).
Tomorrow's free ride fest also coincides with National Pump and Dump Day, or whatever it's called, which raises awareness about the awesomeness that is public transportation, raps us over the knuckles for our dependence on foreign oil, and stuff like that.
