A man who plunged from east side of the Golden Gate Bridge on Sunday is reportedly in "serious but stable condition" according to the Examiner. At around 10:20 a.m. the distraught, unidentified man jumped off the bridge, but Coast Guard officials were able to rescue him and have him whisked away to John Muir center in Walnut Creek. Fortunately, it looks like the gentleman will survive.

Regarding suicide averages on the Golden Gate Bridge, the Examiner goes on to point out:

Last summer, Marin County Coroner Ken Holmes released findings from a 10-year study on suicide trends from the Golden Gate Bridge. In his report, Holmes found that 206 people plunged to their deaths from 1997 to 2007, including 59 San Francisco residents, a group that formed the largest percentage — 29.6 — of the jumpers.
