N Judah Chronicles' Greg Dewar will not be pleased. And neither will the rest of you.
Just weeks after colliding with a 90-year-old woman on the corner of 9th Avenue and Irving Street, an inbound N Judah stuck a man at 31st Avenue, dragging him to 28th, killing him in the process. Overhead news helicopters, a Judah Street closure, and a police investigation followed suit. What's more, according to the Gate:
The incident was the second Muni accident of the night. About an hour earlier, a streetcar struck a car at 44th Avenue and Taraval Street, injuring several people who were transported to San Francisco General Hospital, a Muni spokeswoman said. The number of people hurt and the extent of their injuries had not yet been determined, she said.
Charming.
The N Judah death, which occurred a little after 9 p.m last night, "stretched several blocks and...was very bloody." Of course, this raises many questions. For example, who was the victim? What was he doing at the time? How in the hell did the streetcar operator not know that they had just hit someone? Did any passengers know? He was dragged? Will the N Judah please stop its current campaign of perambulator terror?
We will update you with more info as it comes to us.
Update: The Municide (TM SFist tipster) victim has been identified as 40-year-old Mark Callaghan. And--get this--it seems that the San Francisco resident was attempting to board the N-Judah train at 31st Avenue "when the doors closed...Callaghan tripped and fell...then was dragged underneath the streetcar." Jesus.
