Tigers 5 A's 2- All you need to know about the A's season is this wonderful little stat: since June 15, the A's have lost 28 out of 40 games. Consider this loss to the Tigers, their fourth in a row, #28. The losing pitcher, Joe Blanton, btw, is rumored to be on his way to be going from an A to LA. We don't take much stock in this as the trade deadline rumors have been so crazy that yesterday afternoon, Peter Gammons was even reporting that we're on the way to Phillyist for an editor to be named later and a box of Fruit Loops.

Barry didn’t hit a home run last night not for a lack of trying but mainly for a lack of a game. With the team on the road this week, everyone's wondering if he'll do it on the road and what the reaction would be. With that comes speculation that Bonds will intentionally not try to hit the home run on this road trip. We would rant on about the suggestion, but then we read this and had to go hmmm….Would Barry purposely play it so that he won't hit a home run this week, either by sitting out or going for singles instead? Wouldn't that be against the integrity of the game and hurt the team? Well, on the one hand, Barry plays for Barry so, yes, he could. On the other hand, we wouldn't put it past him to hit the home run in LA just to spite all the people who get the vapors just thinking about him hitting it on the road.

We shall see.
