Part 1 of 2 of SFist Wendy's hard-partying midweek SFIFF musical adventures!
At the SFIFF, we waited out the line on Wednesday to “go green” with local bands Halou (video above) and Tarentel at the Mighty, at the Greenworld event. Having seen Halou before, we knew it’d be worth the wait.
We weren’t really sure what to expect from the green scene that night, and shuttled into the club along with a really interesting mix of folks there for the evening’s shows. Uncharacteristically large rolls of film hung on the wall of the open club, which appeared to have removed its usual artwork for the night’s festivities.
Before the music began, we checked out the films in the Greenworld contest, which played continuously in the club’s back room. The online competition of short two- minute films, sponsored by SFIFF/Green and which brings together filmmakers committed to the promotion of sustainable living, asked contestants to convey their message about the future of our world and resources in just two minutes. We were pretty impressed and amused by the shorts, and got a real kick out of the winner, Oops!, which featured a giant monster-like blob devouring the earth’s resources like it was a candy store. (video above).
After the jump, the musicians hit the stage -- plus, a YouTube clip of Halou.
