Gray, who has over ten years' experience sailing, set off on Sunday to scatter the ashes of his mother. When he didn't return, the Coast Guard started a search from Oregon to Monterey Bay. They've gotten a couple of tips and sightings, but nothing has panned out yet. Even stranger, Sunday was apparently a great day for sailing and not the kind of weather that would cause problems. In fact, other sailors said that between all the safety precautions people take these days and the weather, they can't really think of anything that would cause anything bad to happen other than underwater debris.
Still, the search continues.
