It's a slight variation on our Who's Attacking/Defending Newsom Now columns -- Gavin goes on the offensive!
The gay-focused Bay Area Reporter runs a column this week in their Political Notebook about the post-Halloween fallout between Gavin and new father District 8 Supervisor Bevan Dufty. Apparently the wounds from Gavin's attack on Bevan about the Castro Halloween shooting and his vote to override the veto on the foot patrol issue are still smarting, as Bevan says:
Sadly, the mayor is angry with me and he remains angry with me. The things he said about me I continue to be angry about. It doesn't mean I don't love Gavin but our relationship is quite different now.
They've apparently not spoken since Gavin was busted smack-talking on Bevan behind his back. What? We thought Gavin was all about the "open-door policy" (.pdf) for supervisors! If you've got something to say about Bevan, say it to his face!
Dufty also revealed that he and Gavin have had "explosive conversations" about problems in the police department in light of the upswing in gun violence in the Castro, and rumors have it that he'd like a new police chief to replace Heather Fong.
In other news, Dufty's just bought a house in the Lower Haight. Also -- now there's buzz about whether or not be interested in running for mayor against Gavin. Hmmmm. Is it too late to add Dufty to the SFist Mayoral Poll?
