Because nothing says potent political protest like causing traffic, the gals at Code Pink marched along the Golden Gate Bridge today disrupting traffic. Of course, this is one of those things that turn into a chicken vs. the egg type question: did Code Pink cause the disruption or did the police who thought they were causing a disruption cause the disruption. Or, in other words, is a group to blame for a disruption if the disruption was caused by the thought of their disruption. And does holding up traffic really make anyone go "gosh, maybe we should get out of Iraq?" or do they think "if I miss my meeting, so help me God, I'm going to personally run over those people myself."
Anyways, in honor of today being "International Peace Day" and (just how is that going by the way?) about 40 activists marched along the bridge holding up signs and waving at passing cars. This all happened around 8 in the morning (see above comment about effectiveness of protesting during rush hour) and there were two fender benders that occurred due to all this. Or so said the police. No one was arrested but a few scrapes occurred when the police attempted to confiscate the signs. "Are we living in a fascist state or a democracy?" Godwined one of the protestors.
