Apparently, someone hacked into the fair's site and erased over 70,000 votes. To rectify this damage, the voting will begin again on May 22, with greater security in place.
Of course, this is all an essentially academic issue, as the actual winner of the contest is chosen by a panel of judges at the fair itself, and the public voting is intended only "as a fun vote to get people warmed up." Insert your own electoral college joke here.
