Last week, the Highland City Council voted to forbid any city official from spending county money at any sort of official event in the city. This means they can't attend any event or meeting in the city. Of course, it turns out they're not currently scheduled to attend any meetings here in the city, but it's not like congress is going to start impeachment hearings on the President because Chris Daly thinks it's a good idea either.

The impetus for the ban came with the passing of Measure I, the one banning military recruiters from recruiting in city schools. Well, that and pretty much just for being us. In fact, the city council said that they wanted to send a message that the rest of California isn't made up of "kooks and nuts" like we are. Not to mention make a stand against the "tomfoolery" of the Board of Supervisors. Says City Councilman Larry McCallon "the majority of Californians support our military and support traditional values and our way of life and our government."

In response, Gavin said that it's not big deal and that there's no harm done. In fact, he said that over the years, he's learned to "...always distinguish the leadership from the people."
