Hey! Grateful Dogs is having an adoption event this Saturday from 12-3 at the West Portal Starbucks. Overcome your knee-jerk contempt for corporate coffee long enough to come and see some of the little pups you've met on SFist, as well as some new faces. SFist Franny will be making an alumni appearance there as well, so be sure to say hi! If nothing else, stop by to say hi to Billy!

We have another friendly guy here! Billy was rescued from the Lake Charles, Louisiana animal shelter hours before Hurricane Rita struck the area. The shelter was destroyed in the storm. A major contributor and friend of GRATEFUL DOGS RESCUE donated the use of her Gulfstream Jet for this rescue flight, which was named in honor of her own dog, rescued from Mexico, Rosie. Thanks to BIG DOG RESCUE, of Penngrove, CA who rescued the animals on the ground and ROSIE'S WINGS OF MERCY I, who flew them to safety, the lives of 73 animals were saved that day.

Billy is an outgoing, playful boy. He loves sitting in your lap for attention and gets along well with other dogs. Very striking and serious looking in his picture, he really just wants to have fun. Sturdy but small white body with one solid brown ear and one spotted brown ear, he is a bit bigger than most Chihuahuas! Billy is not yet used to city life and while he is gleeful to be able to run in a fenced park area, he will need to be on leash when not in appropriate confined areas.

Like many small dogs, Billy has a lot of good energy so training classes and fun exercise will be good for him and his new people. He is healthy and heartworm negative. Billy was already up for adoption at the shelter when he was rescued before Hurrican Rita destroyed the shelter, so Billy is ready to make his forever home here in California!
