With the inmates running the asylum known as the 109th Congress, it's always great to know that we here in California, the Blue-ish of the Blue states, have representatives to act as a bulwark against the insanity. Case in point, what some people call an "annual rite of spring"-- the proffering of a resolution making flag burning unconstitutional. Thankfully, our elected representatives are standing firm and fighting this nonsense, people like Sen. Barbara Boxer and Diane Feinstein. Oh wait…what's that? Uh, nevermind. Turns out our former Mayor is not only supporting the resolution in the Senate, but is co-sponsoring it. With Orrin Hatch. Oh, the humanity.

Do we even have to list the reasons for the stupidity behind all this? Hell, the "Daily Show" pretty much said all that needed to be said about it last night (news headline—"Flame Retarded"). And via Wonkette, here's another guy pointing out the sheer stupidity of it all. From a political standpoint, we have no idea what Feinstein is up to on this one as it's not like she has much to worry about politically. Oh wait, she's up for reelection in 2006. Could that have something to do with it? Have they issued an Amber Alert on DiFi's spine yet? Anyhoo, if you want to get in touch with Ms. Feinstein, give her a holla.
