Burns was hired from Philadelphia after the "MUNI Meltdown" in 1999. As much as we love to kvetch about MUNI, we do have to admit that it has gotten better since he took over. Then again, saying that MUNI is better than it used to be is like saying that new Limp Bizkit CD is better than the last Limp Bizkit CD.

That budget that everyone hates, by the way, still is on track to get approved, as there aren't enough votes on the Board to stop it. In response, Tom Ammiano is proposing a ballot measure that will rearrange some of the deck chairs and give the Supervisors more say in MUNI affairs.
