One of the mothers of all intellectual crack dens - Kepler's Bookstore - turns 50 this year. Fifty years of social consciousness (Roy Kepler was an anti-violence activist) and social unconsciousness (this is, afterall, where this SFist goes on Sundays for our European gossip rags, hidden of course behind literary journals). Kepler's, in Menlo Park, is one of the greats, along with more famous Cody's and City Lights. Palo Alto Weekly wrote a really fabulous history of Kepler's if you don't know anything about the place.
This Saturday, May 14th, is when the real celebration goes on. Events, for kids and grown-ups, will be happening all afternoon at the store on El Camino Real in Menlo Park. The best part (other than the cake, of course) is that every book in the place is 20% off! That's a whole lot of extra reading/crack for your money. Only being in a completely different country is going to stop us from raiding our savings account. Please go in our stead and come back and tell us what you bought!
