You think it was rough to live up to your parent's expectations? What if your mom was acclaimed author Anne Rice, and your pop was not quite as famous but still critically lauded Stan Rice? It's enough to make you want to go to med school, to try to master a craft as far from theirs as possible.

Fortunately, Christopher Rice isn't nearly the pussy we are. He's made quite a career as both a novelist as well as a columnist for . He'll be at the Castro Books Inc tonight for a signing at 7:30 (hey, that's where we saw Susie Bright read a few weeks ago).

Rice is touring in support of Light Before Day, a twisted and fun serial killer-type thriller.

SFist enjoyed the book enormously, and applauds anyone who is able to make their way in the world without being bogged down by the successes (or failures) of their parents. If you're not already drunk on green beer, check it out!
