Of course, any sort of discussion about flooding caused by rain in these here parts must always be tempered by what happened in South-East Asia, but due to all the almost biblical amount of rain going down in the area, flooding is becoming a problem. Today, parts of the Embarcadero were closed and huge parts of Marin were completely covered in water. Which, of course, meant huge traffic jams onto the Golden Gate Bridge and the occasional power outage. In Mill Valley, the cool-ass photo shown was taken of a man jumping into his friend’s car to help move it to dry land.

Looking for some respite from all this cold, rainy dreariness? Guess again cause we got another storm hitting come Saturday, coming in from Alaska. Yay! This means not only lots and lots of rain, but it’ll be cold too. As well as thunder and lightning too. All told, expect up to 20 inches of rain to hit the area come Monday and winds causing up to 17-foot waves around the city (we’ve already heard stories from people about huge waves crashing upon places where there normally aren’t huge waves crashing).

For those thinking that storms=powder (or, what skiers like to call “fresh pow pow”), it is snowing everywhere, but so much so that California Highway Patrol is closing several roads into Tahoe and telling everyone to use chains up to Nevada. Their advice, however, is to “stay home.”
