Well, we did a little better than the Chron on this one, but only slightly, since we got pictures. But we have to concur that the annual tradition of throwing calendar pages out the window on the last weekday of the year just wasn't that spectacular this year, unless it all happened on Thursday. Seems that most people had Friday off, but there were a few dedicated litterers along Montgomery and Sutter, as we happened to be nearby for three scatterings during the hour and a half we stood in the rain waiting for them (the lengths SFist goes for you, dear readers!). Despite the lack of full-scale blanketing of tiny fragments of 2004, it was still exciting to see what we could catch -- even though we couldn't quite catch the spectacle on camera as well as we would have liked:

calendar pages airborne

It was a lot like whale watching, actually -- twisting our heads back and forth, frantically, hoping to catch that moment when the calendars flew out their windows. Though the meager payoff was still worth it, probably the most disappointing thing was that we didn't find any calendars with anything juicy written on them, like "November 2, 10:30AM -- call to Ohio to make sure election is fixed" or anything similar. In fact, none of the calendar pages we found had written on them whatsoever. Oh, well -- at least now we have a New Year's Resolution: get better pix this year of the 2005 litterfest.
