Mac Dre, the Vallejo rapper shot in Kansas City last week, was laid to rest yesterday at the Mountain View cemetary in Oakland. Unfortunately, the funeral home, which only seats 100, was not able to accommodate all the members of Mac Dre's family and fans who wanted to pay their final respects, and only people whose names appeared on an official list were allowed in. It was unclear who exactly had made the final cut -- some family members were not invited while their children or spouses were, at points names were called out like a lottery for admission, some people got in even though they weren't on the list, and Mac Dre's father said he had to argue to get his way in. The family has apparently been fragmented for awhile, and now a fight appears to brewing over Mac Dre's estate too. The picture above is from yesterday's service.

Given the bad feelings stirred up at the funeral, Kelly's Mission Rock has cancelled the hip-hop party it had scheduled for tonight in Mac Dre's honor, out of fears of retaliatory violence. Their attorney says, "There's too much baggage connected with the funeral and the reputation. Kelly's is not going to become a magnet for trouble." Kelly's itself is already in trouble with the city, and there's talk that they'll lose their entertainment license next month because of other hip-hop-related fights that have broken out after their concerts.
