SFist was finally looking forward to some ad revenue from BlogAds when we noticed an AP story noting that San Jose's PayPal, a division of eBay, is experiencing glitches in the wake of a scheduled software upgrade completed last Friday. The glitch is affecting some users (maybe even the reassuring guy in their homepage graphic above) but not others, making it difficult for folks to complete deals on eBay and other sites. PayPal has had some problems in the past, including having to settle a class-action lawsuit which accused PayPal of mishandling customer fraud complaints.

SFist is inclined to agree with Matthew Haughey of MetaFilter, who posted these thoughts on impulse shopping and his love of PayPal for completing transactions quickly without the hassle of re-entering credit card info for every goofy t-shirt he wants to buy. But PayPal deposits to your bank account have always taken forever to clear, they charge you to receive credit card payments and now, apparently, their software has been janky for five days and counting. It wouldn't scare SFist so much if it was, say, Gawker that was having problems - but this is actual money at stake!
