The Bonsai Society of San Francisco will be holding it's annual auction this Thursday, September 9th at 7:30 PM in the San Francisco County Fair Building (Who knew it even existed?) at the Corner of 9th Avenue and Lincoln Way. For those people who have never been to a bonsai club or a bonsai auction this is a great opportunity to meet people who are involved in bonsai in the area as well as pick up material for relatively little money. All proceeds benefit the club and are used to put on shows and programming during the course of the year. SFist cautions people that if they have no interest in plants or bonsai they will probably be bored out of their minds, although the auctioneer will be Tim Kong, who is pretty entertaining to listen to even if you aren't interested in bonsai. Refreshments will be served for trees and humans alike. Payment for auction items by cash or check only. All are welcome, especially those who wish to spend lots of money on really small trees.
