One of these unintended consequences was the proliferation of racist Zoombombs during public comment, which caused San Francisco and other cities to end remote public comment.

Walnut Creek was one of those cities, and KTVU reports that one of that city’s most notorious Zoombombers showed up in person at Tuesday night’s meeting to deliver an antisemitic rant during public comment. He did so in a “White Power” shirt that also displayed a swastika.

The speech is disturbing, though we are embedding it below, as it has been retweeted by Walnut Creek councilmember Kevin Wilk, who was the target of the rant. “Freedom of Speech allows stupidity and hate,” Wilk says in the tweet, “ Note the ‘courageous’ man hides his face.”

Freedom of Speech allows stupidity and hate. Just get the fuck away.”

The comic strip Dilbert still exists, though as of today, it’s being published in fewer newspapers. And the strip is still drawn by its original creator, the now Pleasanton-based Scott Adams, who in recent years has made himself newsworthy for a lot of the wrong reasons (e.g., trying to monetize the Gilroy Garlic Festival shooting on his app). But now even more papers are dropping Dilbert, after Adams went on a racist rant on his podcast Wednesday, classifying Black Americans as a “hate group,” and saying “the best advice I would give to white people is to get the hell away from Black people. Just get the f*** away,” as the Bay Area News Group reports.

The podcast is called Real Coffee with Scott Adams, and his rant was allegedly inspired by some poll by Rasmussen, whose results Adams interprets as saying “nearly half of all Blacks are not OK with white people.” I am not personally familiar with this poll — the conservative Washington Examiner reported on it Wednesday — but I am aware that Rasmussen had the distinction of being the least accurate pollster in the 2022 midterm elections.

Technically, per Bay Area News Group, the poll of 1,000 American adults found that in reaction to the phrase "It's OK to be white," 26% of Black respondents said it’s "not OK to be white" and 21% said "they weren’t sure." Likely inspired by some other conservative pundit, Adams interprets that as "47% of Blacks not willing to say it’s OK to be white."

This real or deep fake? pic.twitter.com/coDrYJcHEo
— Ryan Dawson (@RyLiberty) February 23, 2023

A clip from the segment is seen above, “If nearly half of all Blacks are not OK with white people, according to this poll, not according to me, according to this poll, that’s a hate group. That’s a hate group. And I don’t want anything to do with them.”

“I would say, based on the current way things are going, the best advice I would give to white people is to get the hell away from Black people,” he continued. “Just get the fuck away. Wherever you have to go, just get away. Because there’s no fixing this. This can’t be fixed.”

Dilbert had already been dropped by 77 newspapers last September, after introducing the strip’s first Black character, but only as a means of mocking “woke” culture. The strip is being dropped by more publications in the wake of Wednesday's rant. “This is not a difficult decision,” the Cleveland Plain Dealer explained today. “Until we decide what to replace Dilbert with, you’ll likely see a gray box where it has been appearing.”

Related: Bay Area-Based 'Dilbert' Cartoonist Scott Adams Sparks Outrage For Using Gilroy Shooting To Promote His App [SFist]

Photo via Scott Adams/Twitter

Taiwanese Animation's UC Berkeley 'Racist' Bake Sale

It's been quite some time since we posted a Taiwanese animation bit -- because, you know, it's getting extraordinarily old -- but we couldn't resist sharing with you <a href="http://www.youtube.com/wa...

SF News

animation

bake sale

racist

taiwanese animation

Brock Keeling

It's been quite some time since we posted a Taiwanese animation bit -- because, you know, it's getting extraordinarily old -- but we couldn't resist sharing with you Next Media Animation's harrowing take on the UC Berkeley republican's bake sale.
The point, it seems, was to draw attention to Affirmative Action.

Avowed racist Rep. Michele Bachmann, the GOP presidential candidate, signed an anti-Christian conservative pledge last week stating that among other things, according to the Telegraph, "African American children were more likely to grow up in stable families during the era of slavery than under President Barack Obama." One of countless Americans still furious over having a black man in the Oval Office, Bachmann, along with fellow candidate Rick Santorum, approved and agreed with the following statement.

"Slavery had a disastrous impact on African-American families, yet sadly a child born into slavery in 1860 was more likely to be raised by his mother and father in a two-parent household than was an African-American baby born after the election of the USA's first African-American President," the opening statement reads. It just gets more horrific from there.

In lieu of creating yet another moment of bad (and, far worse, ineffective) satire in response, some moderates fought back. Cheryl Contee, blogger for Jack and Jill Politics, responded, "Given that families were broken up regularly for sales during slavery and that rape by masters was pretty common, this could not be more offensive."

The pledge, created by anti-civil rights groups The Family Leader, was then given to The White House.

In addition to yet again evoking slavery in an effort to sway uneducated voters, the confused GOP candidate and her husband, Marcus, also made headlines by using taxpayer dollars to run a clinic that "suggested in counseling that prayer could help switch a patient’s sexual orientation." According to the LA Times, the noted anti-gay candidate and her partner used federal and state funds to "[endorse and practice] reparative therapy aimed at changing a gay person’s sexual orientation, despite the fact that such 'therapy' is widely discredited by the scientific and medical communities."

CODEPINK Dares to Touch Condi's Hair

It seems CODEPINK, a female-based grassroots pro-peace (and judging by the photographs, anti-conditioner) movement, recently got all up in <a href="http:/...

SF News

Bay Area

Capitol Hill

condi

Condi Rice

Condoleezza Rice

criminal

Gossip

hair

police

SF Politics

racist

Rice

the police

touch

war

Brock Keeling

Jezebel already saved us the trouble from making a horrifying, insensitive, racist, and un-Bay Area comment about never touching a black woman's hair.
It seems CODEPINK, a female-based grassroots pro-peace (and judging by the photographs, anti-conditioner) movement, recently got all up in Condoleezza Rice's face at Capitol Hill today.
We're not sure how she managed to get so near the diva, but well done, frayed-hair lady. Well done.

As with his responses in our recent interview with him, we believe that this "Call to Arms" raises some very thought-provoking points and offers further candid insight into the imbroglio. Also attached below is a letter to his union's journal, in which he criticizes the union for its non-support:

Call to Arms!

Calling all citizens and other parties of interest, I, Officer Andrew Cohen hereby request that you get your pens, quills, pencils, computers or any other writing instrument that you prefer and take the time to write to the Mayor of San Francisco, His Honor Gavin Newsom, as well as to Chief Heather Fong and let them hear your voice as it may pertain to the political scandal known as “VideoGate”!

This charade has gone on long enough, and now we are letting them know that we are sick and tired of their games and political misappropriation of tax payer’s money. We are being held as political hostages and you are being lied to by the “Powers-that-be”.

It has been said time and time again that this video that Gavin denounced as “racist, sexist and homophobic” has no merit and this can and will be proved once given the proper forum to showcase it. You will soon realize that we have been used as political pawns. As you, the tax payers find out that your hard earned dollars are being wastefully spent on their tireless attempts to cast us out when, in fact, we did nothing wrong. As the dollar amount continues to rise and the streets get overcome by violence, we are wasting away pushing paper. This is no way to treat highly qualified and seasoned police officers who participated in a silly comedy video. Just the cost to replace us will be relatively astronomical, and it will take much money, time and effort to find and train these recruits.

And yowza! In their papers, they describe Ed Jew's response as "inadequate, incomplete, misleading and inflammatory." They couldn't find a synonym for the word "misleading" that also started with an i? (Okay, now we can't think of one either. Impertinent? Informationally-challenged? Impossible? Well, you see what we mean.) They also described his positions as "increasingly preposterous." No way, really?

Copies of the papers are here (.pdf.) We're still leafing through it, but it notes that, despite what Ed Jew said about the City Attorney only interviewing Caucasians, two of the neighbors they interviewed were in fact Asian-American, and notes that they think it's weird that Ed hasn't been able to produce any actual evidence that he lives in the house (i.e., pictures of the living room, curtains on the windows, toiletries in the bathroom.) Does Ed Jew not use toilet paper either? Yikes!

The State AG says they'll decide whether or not the City Attorney can file suit to kick Ed out of office within two months. Meanwhile, Gavin Newsom's trying to figure out what he can do (section 15.105) too, Ed's scheduled for his first appearance in criminal court next Monday, the FBI investigation is continuing. And hey, couldn't the voters try and recall Ed Jew too? (maybe they've missed the deadline for the upcoming election, though,)

Day Around The Bay

--Turns out rescuers totally missed the car of the missing Alameda County woman and her priest friend, even though they got exact direction...

SF News

A's

alameda county

announcements

Barack Obama

blogs

California

cars

Chron

DayBay

Elie Wiesel

Flickr

Google

Kwik-E-Mart

Merc News

mountain view

muni

Oakland

Oakland Tribune

Obama

pedestrian

Peter Ragone

photos

SF Politics

Politics Blog

racist

running

SFist Flickr

SFist MattyMatt

Bay Area Sports

strike

SUV

The Truth

Tribune

Zoe Lofgren

rita

--Turns out rescuers totally missed the car of the missing Alameda County woman and her priest friend, even though they got exact directions from 911. Why, we've never watched the show, but we hear pimping out cars with biodiesel is all the rage these days, especially with the rappers. Supposedly, 50 Cent went biodiesel and is so into the environment, he's doing a song called "Environmental Gangsta" on his next album. There's no word on whether Arnie will also request things like a fish tank in the back or a Jacuzzi in the trunk.

The show will be the first one of the season and will air conveniently enough on Earth Day.

SFGate, however, mentions that there might be more to it than Arnie going green. Apparently, the garage the show is filmed in is owned by Galpin Motors. The owners of Galpin Motors also just happen to be big donors of the Governator and the general consul is on the state's New Motor Vehicle Board.

But this relates to — in the sense that dragons logically follow evolution so they would be able to wield metal.
