Today's racially-tinged bake sale by the UC Berkeley republicans got them exactly what they wanted: attention. And ire. But mostly attention. According to the group, " The Berkeley College Republicans firmly believe measuring any admit's merit based on race is intrinsically racist. Our bake sale will be at the same time and location of a phone bank which will be making calls to urge Gov. Brown to sign the bill."

White/Caucasian students were offered $2 for each baked good; Asians/Asian-Americans, $1.50; Latinos/Hispanics, $1; Blacks/African-Americans, 75 cents; Native Americans, 25 cents; women received 25 cents off the price.

Here are some photos from today's bake sale turned counter protest. Many students in opposition held a "lie-in" (?) to protest the small bake sale. (No word yet on how tasty the goodies turned out. Also, on a very personal note, we don't appreciate the politicizing of cookies. That's just not right.)
