Oh boy, do I love editorial notes left in a published piece. A glimpse inside the minds that run your favorite publication. Take, for example, today's death announcement of former child star Shirley Temple in the Chron.

Shirley's shocked face says it all.

In reality, LaSalle or his editor probably didn't want to use cliche words in the headline. Understandable. They eventually went with "Child star Shirley Temple dies at age 85."

On the plus side, Temple is now eligible for the publication's top dead people.

This actually happened to us-- we were walking down 16th street wearing our trusty baggy Giants sweatshirt (we like our sweatshirts baggy) when we walked past a homeless guy who actually said, "I like your sweatshirt. It looks good on someone as big as you."

Yes, some homeless guy called us fat. Needless to say, we did not give him any spare change.

Warriors 129 Suns 114- So the Phoenix Suns, a team that many pick to win the title this year and a team that was possibly one horrendous David Stern judgment from winning the title last year, came into the Oracle riding an eight game winning streak. So what happened? The Warriors whumped 'em. Monta Ellis had 31 points, including 15 consecutive points in the fourth quarter, and Stephen Jackson had 32 to beat PHX. The Warriors have now won six out of seven, leading to the inevitable joke about how they've totaled the amount of victories of both football teams, but as everyone's in a good mood about football, we'll leave it better off alone.

-It looks like the Raiders victory over the Chiefs is going to delay the Coming of JaMarcus at least a week as "Long Balls" Lane Kiffin has already announced Duante as the starting QB next week against the Broncos. We're not sure what the point of all this is either, but maybe it has something to do with the fact that the Raiders are technically only three games behind division leading San Diego.

After paying up last year for disclosure violations, Senator Carole Migden is once again under investigation for not disclosing or itemizing credit card charges that total $397,000. According to the LA Times, she faces $60,000 in administrative fines if she's in breach, our Miss Migden has investigators looking all up in her credit card charging for over the past seven years. Yikes.

The main cause of concern for not keeping tidy books is that it could mean that money is being spent for personal, not campaign-related, use. Apparently, Migden's reports only list the amount spent and the name of the credit card company...and that's all. (Hey, she sounds better at managing her finances than us. But we digress.)

Oh, and the cattiest part of all, "[t]he Fair Political Practices Commission launched an investigation of Migden's expenses after receiving a formal complaint from Assemblyman Mark Leno...who is a candidate to unseat her in the June 2008 election." Oh, you two. Can't you hug it out over Grasshoppers at the Lex? Don't the gays and the dykes have an strained enough relationship as it is?

LAist saw national headlines soar this week with news about the Jena 6 in Louisiana and of a police taser incident at a John Kerry event. Locally, Hollywood protesters marched in support of the Jena 6 and Orange County deputies tasered a 15-year-old autistic boy (good job guys). Speaking of Orange County and suburban areas, ABC's Desperate Housewives has a new marketing technique: advertise on the white stripes that define a parking space (we're still not going to watch). In the restaurant scene, what's going over at the California Pizza Kitchen?

Bostonist got a crash course in what not to do this week. They discovered a Craigslist post from a Harvard Man who might be worse at dating than Tom Brady is. One woman attempted to evade the long arm of the law by hiding in a clothes dryer. It didn't work. And the Red Sox are showing Bostonist nothing but suckage, suckage, and more suckage. But then an MIT student came along and topped just about everybody when she walked into Logan Airport with a fake bomb strapped to her chest. Bostonist is still trying to comprehend that one. The Aqua Teen Guys are not available for comment.

DCist suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Senate Republicans this week, when they voted not to allow legislation to give the District a voting member of the House of Representatives to go forward. They spent the rest of the week consoling themselves by comparing the best wood-fired pizzas in town and complaining about the city's terrible traffic ranking. They also discovered the greatest web site ever and questioned the police department's account of the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy.

Torontoist used their users to get tons of shots of the filming of the Incredible Hulk (the sequel, not the old one), continued their love affair with Final Fantasy (the singer, not the video game), found out that Nelly Furtado is persona non grata at Rain (the restaurant, not the precipitation) and wondered about pornography (the church-mandated kind, not the hell-bound stuff).

Dodgers 6 Giants 4- Before we begin the fun, we'd like to draw your attention to a pretty interesting article by the LA Times' Bill Plaschke who writes how that two game series in '97, the Brian Johnson series, completely ruined the Dodgers for ten years. Long story short, the series devastated the team that season and knocked them out of the playoffs, making it easier for Fox to buy the Dodgers and promptly trash the franchise. Good stuff. Anyhoo, the Enchanter got Cained (our new verb for when a pitcher pitches a good game only to lose due to the Giants ineptitude) as the bullpen gave up four runs in the eighth to lose the game. The damage was done by Messer’s Kline and Messenger and is it us or does Randy Messenger look like a taller, skinner Turtle from "Entourage." As for Bonds, he did nothing of much importance but we couldn’t help but notice that when he hit what looked like a decent shot at hitting the homer, the fans stood up in excitement only to see it turn into just another fly out. When he was taken out, a huge portion of fans left the stadium and yes, it is fairly typical of Dodgers fans, but it was still a 3-2 game at the time.

And one more thing-- sadly police say that they found traces of cocaine in Rod Beck's house when they investigated his suicide. When we heard about his death, that was unfortunately one of the first things we thought of, that it was somewhat related to drugs even though we really hoped it wasn't. It was.

A's 3 Tigers 2- Yeah, the A's won, but the thing we're more concerned with is that the Yankees are now only two behind the Indians for the wild card spot (and three behind the Tigers). Jesus Frickin' Christ, people, won't that team go down? They're the Jason Voorhees of baseball-- everytime you think they're killed they keep on coming back. With the Giants out and the A's out, there was nothing more we were looking forward to than some serious Yankees schadenfreude and now we can't even get that. So, anyways, go Tribe!

Barry didn't play last night due to his legs being shot from playing Tuesday's 13 inning birthday game, thus disappointing a sold out stadium, Bud Selig, and scores of press from around the world who instead got stuck watching a very good pitching duel and Noah Lowry solidifying his role of staff ace. Maybe Bud Selig should institute some sort of "best interest of baseball" rule saying that if Barry isn't going to play, the Giants should announce it first thing in the morning so fans know they don't have to go, Bud can have a nice night out in the town, and all the press hordes can either go home or just hang out in the press booth and get drunk.

That doesn't mean that Barry didn't make some news, however: on Bob Costas's HBO show, Curt Schilling opened up his prolific big mouth and noted that both Barry and Mark McGwire have never actually denied or fought accusations of being on the juice. In response, Barry went after not Schilling, but Costas, and said: "You mean that little midget man who absolutely knows jack … about baseball, who never played the game before? You can tell Bob Costas what I called him." He then added about all the accusations, "don't worry, my day will come."

In other Bonds related fun, Grant from McCovey Chronicles has a column listing his "Favorite Barry Bonds Homeruns", a fun little discussion starter. In all honesty, we couldn't come up with much in the way of a list as he's hit so many of them, they all sort of blend into one. But we'll try anyways
