Barah's Market at Leavenworth and Turk Streets, known around the neighborhood as a convenient place to buy, sell or stash one's illegal drugs, has been ordered to cut it out with all those "public nuisance" activities. Barah's has been on the police department and City Attorney's watch lists, along with Razan Deli at Ellis and Jones, for allowing sales of heroin, prescription painkillers, and crack cocaine in and around the stores.

Earlier this month a Judge with a thing for shuttering sketchy TL corner markets ordered Razan Deli to close for a year and pay an $80,000 fine to the city for harboring drug dealers, thieves and other illicit behavior. Barah's, on the other hand, will get to stay open provided they close at midnight, hire a security guard and install security cameras inside and outside the market.
