The traveling sensation of the Hello Kitty Cafe truck brings its bright pink stylings back to SF’s Stonestown Galleria on Saturday, along with scheduled July stops in San Jose and Pleasanton.
After the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck made its San Francisco debut in 2015, its annual return would always elicit “OFMG” headlines here at SFist. The cafe truck paying homage to the superstar Sanrio expressionless cat kept coming back even at the height of COVID, and this year’s annual pilgrimage for fans of Hello Kitty and the truck’s famed Hello Kitty latte art will return to SF’s Stonestown Galleria this Saturday, June 29, from 10 am to 7 pm, as the Bay Area News Group reports.
The Hello Kitty Cafe Truck has already started the Bay Area leg of its summer tour. It was in Walnut Creek this past weekend, and has stops scheduled for San Jose (July 13 at Santana Row), and in Pleasanton on July 20 (at the Stoneridge Shopping Center).
Saturday’s SF Hello Kitty Cafe Truck visit will be situated at the mall’s Main East Entrance, between the Shake Shack and the Chipotle.
But 2024 is Hello Kitty's 50th anniversary. So the normal roster of Hello Kitty merch like t-shirts, water bottles, and plushies will be bolstered with special 50th anniversary items like plush blankets, tote bans, keychains, sparkly patches, and more.
There was actually a brick-and-mortar, pop-up Hello Kitty Cafe at San Jos’s Santana Row for a few months in 2018. On its opening weekend, wait times were a reported five hours.
If you’re a big Hello Kitty (or Badtz-Maru!) fan, we are sorry to inform that you’ve already missed the SF Giants 2024 Hello Kitty Day, which already happened on May 11. To honor the 50th anniversary, Hello Kitty was also named a 2024 Grand Parade Marshal for the SF Cherry Blossom Festival this past April.
