There were a few delays Monday at SFO due to a minor crash between a JetBlue jet and a towing vehicle that was helping the jet push back from a gate, and all the passengers had to deplane.
A JetBlue plane bound from SFO to Boston had a collision Monday around 4 p.m. with a pushback tractor, beside the gate from which it was departing. No passengers were injured, as NBC Bay Area reports, and the plane was able to taxi back to the gate it had just left so that everyone could get off and board a new flight.
Per KPIX, it remains unclear what kind of damage the plane sustained, if any, in the collision.
The airline issued a statement saying, "On Monday, November 6, JetBlue flight 534 was involved in an incident with a pushback tractor just after pushing back from the gate. All customers have deplaned and are being offered alternate flight options. No injuries were reported. Safety is JetBlue's first priority; we are reviewing this incident, and the aircraft has been taken out of service for inspection."
One passenger onboard a Dubai-bound flight tweeted that his flight was delayed due to the incident, and he posted video of the jet, post collision, with a mobile staircase pulled up to one of its doors.
Not everyday your plane✈️ is delayed to Dubai 🇦🇪 because the Jet Blue ✈️ across the tarmac gets hit by a service truck truck 🛻 🤯.

I’m glad that the Jet Blue plane had only just left the terminal. #flying #sfo #svin pic.twitter.com/6h5lb2DF4u
