The SFPD announced Tuesday that it had arrested a 43-year-old man last week who is suspected in a series of commercial burglaries in and around Chinatown and Nob Hill.
As the police reported in this bulletin today, Chad Waltman was reported to police as the sole suspect in five burglaries in the last month at commercial establishments in the Central district, which also includes North Beach, Russian Hill and the Financial District. Waltman is also suspected in a burglary in the Mission District.
The report of the burglaries came in on December 4, and patrol officers recognized and arrested Waltman two days later on the 600 block of Market Street. He was allegedly found with burglary tools in his possession.
Waltman is described as a transient, and his booking photo (above) showed him with distinctive, messy dreadlocks.
The locations of Waltman's alleged burglaries have not been disclosed.
The SFPD says that while an arrest has been made in the case, anyone with information is asked to call the 24-hour tip line at 415-517-4444 or they can text a tip to TIP411 and begin the text message with SFPD.
