A Tesla driver was taken into custody Monday morning after allegedly driving the entire way east across the Bay Bridge in the westbound lanes of the upper deck.

Reports of the Tesla 3 headed the wrong way in the westbound lanes first arrived at 2:46 a.m. this morning, as KTVU explains, and the driver allegedly got all the way into Oakland and continued traveling south in the northbound lanes of I-880 all the way to 5th Street.

California Highway Patrol officers ultimately were only able to stop the vehicle using a spike strip in the roadway.

As the Chronicle has it, the car was first seen getting on the bridge near Fremont Street in San Francisco.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

No collisions or injuries related to the incident have been reported.

Some may recall back in November 2014 when a woman under the influence of marijuana and meth stole a taxicab in San Francisco and drove it the wrong way across the Bay Bridge, seriously injuring another woman in the process.
