- A fire aboard a scuba diving vessel off Santa Cruz Island in Southern California may have claimed dozens of lives. 33 people are missing and five were rescued after the boat sank — the boat apparently had 32 passengers and six crew members on it. [New York Times]
- Some chaos ensued Saturday night in San Jose after police officers started writing citations for public drinking in a parking lot. A large crowd closed in on the officers and assaulted three of them, and a melee ensued with multiple arrests and 60 officers on the scene. [KRON 4]
- Alameda County Sheriff's deputies were searching Sunday night for a man who fled a traffic stop and broke through barriers to drive onto the tarmac at Oakland Airport. The suspect abandoned his pickup truck at the edge of the Bay, and may have swam away or drowned. [Bay City News]
- 71 people were arrested and 26 vehicles were impounded after CHP and multiple other East Bay law enforcement agencies joined forces in busting a sideshow Saturday night. Antioch police got a tip that "round 2" of a sideshow that happened a week earlier would be going down in east Contra Costa County. [KRON 4]
