Details are few, but there was a homicide Friday morning in the vicinity of Polk Gulch.
A 42-year-old man was found at 3:41 a.m. Friday suffering from stab wounds near the corner of Van Ness Avenue and Fern Street, as Bay City News reports. Fern is a four-block alley that runs between Sutter and Bush Streets, parallel to those streets, between Gough and Larkin Streets. At Van Ness, the street runs behind the Regency Ballroom.
The victim was transported to a hospital and declared dead once there. No description of an assailant has yet been provided.
This looks to be San Francisco's 25th homicide of 2019. As of last Saturday, the city had gone a full month without a murder, when 34-year-old Dietrich Whitley was fatally shot outside the Oakdale housing project in Hunters Point.
