A San Francisco couple opted out of the usual limo or party bus ride across the Bay to their wedding on Saturday, and instead took their whole wedding party on BART from Powell to Lake Merritt.
Newlyweds Laura Hansen and Jeremy Bachrach decided to take public transit from Union Square, where they and their wedding party were staying at the Sir Francis Drake, to their wedding venue on Saturday — despite a lot of "are you sure?"s from friends and family. And despite BART's well publicized diceyness these days, the trip came off without a hitch and saved them some money. And, Hansen says, it was fun seeing those in the wedding party who never ride BART getting their "sea legs."
The venue was the historic Camron-Stanford House on Lake Merritt, and the couple tells SFGate that they and their decked-out entourage got a lot more love on the Oakland side of the Bay, from people shouting out of cars as they walked from the station to the venue — not so much on their walk down Powell Street, apparently.
And, of course, no one sat down on the BART seats. Obviously.
They brought wedding photographer Russell Edwards along for the trip, and then shared his photos with BART, who offered congratulations "from your friendly local transit agency." We bring you the collection here, courtesy of Edwards.
