• San Mateo County approved a plan by Chick-fil-A to take over and renovate a former McDonald's on Whipple Avenue in Redwood City, and now a county supervisor is saying "Hell no." The plan seems to be a done deal, but Supervisor David Canepa is taking his objections to the notoriously anti-LGBT chain to the press. [NBC Bay Area]
  • The prosecution rested its case Wednesday in the Ghost Ship fire trial in Oakland. A defense attorney for co-defendant Derick Almena says he doesn't think they made a case against his client, but "They certainly made the case that there was an enormous tragedy in Oakland, [and] that it was heartbreaking."   • Saving some of the best evidence for last, perhaps, prosecutors called a witness who described how co-defendant Max Harris, the so-called "manager" of the space, would replace exploded fuses as part of his duties. Harris apparently said as much to ATF agents investigating the fire. [KQED]
  • A bus fire this morning that shut down several lanes of I-280 turns out to have been an Apple employee commuter shuttle. The fire happened just before 11 a.m., and no passengers were on the bus at the time. The driver's condition is not known. [ABC 7]
  • The live-in boyfriend of a woman found dead in a burning Vallejo home last week has been arrested for her murder. [CBS SF]
  • San Leandro police just arrested a 20-year-old Oakland man for impersonating a police officer, which he also recently allegedly did in Berkeley. [CBS SF]
