As noted in recent weeks, just about ten years to the month that Flour + Water debuted in the Mission, the restaurant is opening a pizzeria spinoff at the busy corner of 18th and Valencia. And the official opening day is today after a weekend of parties and previews.
Taking over the former Farina Pizzeria space, Flour + Water Pizzeria will not be serving the exact same, wood-fired Neapolitan pies it makes at its flagship location, but it will be serving Neapolitan-style pies in greater variety here. There are going to be seasonally changing offerings, with generally five red-sauced and five white pies at any given time.
For salads, there's a Caesar, a kale salad, and an East Coast-style chopped salad.
Also, there are some ricotta meatballs and mozzarella sticks on the menu, in tribute to chef Thomas McNaughton's New Jersey roots. "Pizza has been part of my life for as long as I can remember," McNaughton says.
On the Valencia Street side, there's a dedicated door and counter for to-go slices, and there will be a daily changing slice special, as well as soft-serve ice cream at that counter as well.
Here's the opening menu for you to peruse, below. There is also beer and wine, with house blends of red and white starting at $11 a glass.
The restaurant is now open seven days a week, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
