Two men were shot and critically injured Friday afternoon at the intersection of 6th and Mission streets. The incident happened just after 1:30 p.m. and the entire area has been shut down for the investigation, impacting traffic on Market Street and in SoMa.
The two victims were rushed to SF General with life-threatening injuries, according to ABC 7.
No description of the suspect has yet been provided, and he remains at large. CBS SF has descriptions of the aftermath from witnesses who say one of the victims was screaming in pain, but the other was very "still."
A video uploaded to Citizen shows the scene and the police presence in the aftermath.
A neighborhood resident noted to the Chronicle that while the area may be "seedy," shootings are very rare, especially in the middle of the afternoon. "For this to happen in broad daylight, it’s pretty scary."
The police investigation is likely to impact bus and car traffic for several hours, though Muni says its buses are still moving through the area.
