DeMarcus Cousins was in the news this weekend after Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told reporters there was a chance the All-Star center could be available to return during this postseason. At the time, coach Kerr only casually hinted at the possibility of a Cousins return, stating, "He's come a pretty long way so we'll just wait and see."

Things got a little more interesting (and exciting for Dubs fans) on Monday, as DeMarcus, himself, added more fuel to the fire that is the possibility of a triumphant Cousins return:

[Speaking to The Undefeated's Marc J. Spears, Cousins says]: "For me, my goal is I ain't planning on sitting. I don't know the reality of it. But for me, that is not what I'm planning on doing...It's definitely some type of bad movie. But I think it will have a very nice ending. Just wait for it."

Cousins continued, adding:

"I was confident from the beginning once they told me the severity of it. Talking to the doctors helped me understand the injury a little more. I started analyzing things and playing it out in my head. I'm going to take it day by day and work my ass off like I always do..."

The Warriors are not in panic mode, though they have allowed the Rockets to climb back into the series and even it at two games. DeMarcus is too far out to come back for the current series, which means that the Rockets will not have to fret. However, if the Warriors do get past this first big test, the teams down the road will have to deal with yet another lethal Golden State weapon.

Cousins was big for the Dubs in the second half of the regular season, after he was forced to sit out early while he recovered from a serious Achilles injury. Posting 16.3 points per game, 8.2 rebounds per contest, and dishing out 3.6 dimes on average, DeMarcus provided a level of play the Warriors haven't seen in a while, if ever. For what it's worth, when asked when he will return, DeMarcus stated:

"I'm taking it day by day. I'm in better spirits, for sure. I kind of shut the world out. There are a lot of opinions out there. I shut the world out, went to my little zone and I'm taking it a day at a time."
