Almost exactly a year after a fatal shooting up the street from the club, and a little more a year after a fatal shooting that happened inside the EndUp nightclub at 6th and Harrison, the SFPD is seeking the public's help in finding suspects in the former case. 26-year-old John Sanyaolu was found fatally wounded from a gunshot near the intersection of 6th Street and Bryant at 2:25 a.m. on October 2, 2016, and his assailant remains at large.

Sanyaolu later died of his injuries at Zuckerberg General Hospital.

Two other men, a 28-year-old and a 26-year-old, both of Oakland, were injured in the shooting as well. They were treated for their injuries and released, and clearly they either did not cooperate with the investigation or they weren't able to provide a meaningful ID for the suspect, who fled the scene.

The three victims apparently traveled to the club together that night a year ago to meet female friends, according to investigators, and a physical fight broke out as the trio was leaving the club, with this unknown assailant.

The SFPD writes, "There were numerous people in and around the nightclub at the time of the shooting. Homicide investigators are asking anyone who may have [been] at or near the nightclub during or just after the shooting to contact SFPD."

Witnesses in the October 2016 shooting are encouraged to call the SFPD tip line at (415) 575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD. Witnesses may remain anonymous.

This was the second fatal shooting to occur in 2016 either nearby or on the premises of the EndUp. In the first case, from June 5, 2016, gang ties were mentioned in the investigation but charges were later dropped against two suspects after surveillance video showed that the victim was shot with his own gun that he'd come to the club with, cocked, in his waistband.
