Although it seems like it should have happened by now if it was going to happen, talk about the Golden State Warriors declining an invitation to visit the White House, as NBA champions have traditionally done in the past, has been going on since the Warriors took the championship in June. Now star player Steph Curry goes on ESPN podcast The Jump today and says that he's voting against any White House visit and he wants the team's refusal of an invitation to be "a statement."
We get this via the show's host, Rachel Nichols, via Twitter, and it doesn't look like the podcast is online yet. CBS Sports has a transcript as well, and you can see the excerpt below.
Curry: Obviously, you don't wanna rush to a decision on understanding the magnitude of what this means. We have an opportunity to send a statement that hopefully encourages unity, encourages us to appreciate what it means to be American, and stand for something. So whatever your opinion is on either side, that's what we wanna take advantage of this opportunity.Rachel Nichols: You're saying you have the opportunity to stand for something by not going?
Curry: Yeah, for me, that's gonna be my vote when we meet with the team. But it is a collective, it's not just me, it's not just KD, it's about the whole team and what we were able to accomplish as a team, and the opportunity that has historically been afforded to championship teams. So we'll have that conversation obviously, and we'll do it as a group, and we'll have one voice. But if you wanna know what I'm voting, Ima tell you that.
Curry further confirmed his decision when he took the podium for the team's media day, as you can hear below. "I don't wanna go," he said. "[But] It's not just me going to the White House. If it was, this would be a pretty short conversation."

Back in June it got reported that the team had "unanimously decided" not to accept an invitation to the White House, however the team put out a statement saying they hadn't been invited yet, without any further comment.
I guess this means that there's been an invitation from President Trump, but the team has yet to have a meeting and take an official vote on whether to accept.
And we already know Andre Iguodala's vote too, which he told to USA Today: "Hell nah."
