A man getting off the elevator of a San Francisco apartment tower ended up in a fistfight Wednesday, after a suspect demanded the food he was carrying.
According to the San Francisco Police Department, the altercation began at around 6:20 Wednesday evening, at a high-rise apartment building located at 100 Font Boulevard, near Park Merced.
Police say that the victim, an 18-year-old male, was getting off the elevator with a platter of cooked food when he was approached by a male suspect who appeared to be in his mid-20s.
The suspect demanded the food, police say, and the victim told the suspect "to leave him alone."
Instead, the suspect snatched the container of food from the man, police say, then took off. The victim followed the thief, and the two "fought over the food," according to the SFPD.
The altercation ended when the suspect punched the victim then fled on foot, food in hand.
Police say that the food was the only thing taken in the incident, which left the victim with injuries police say are not life threatening. The suspect remains at large, police say, and no arrests have been made in the case.
