A man walking in Dogpatch was the victim of an aggravated assault last night, after a suspect spit on him, chased him, and beat him with a tire iron.
Police say that the incident occurred at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, near the intersection of 20th Street and Third Street.
According to the San Francisco Police Department, a male suspect who appeared to be in his 50s first spit on the 35-year-old male victim, then "chased [the victim] for several blocks."
When the suspect caught up to the victim, he hit the younger man with a tire iron, police say.
The victim was transported to an area hospital for injuries police say are not life-threatening. The suspect apparently evaded capture, as according to the SFPD no arrests have been made in the case.
