In a welcome change of pace to the many stories of unsolved BART crime, BART police say they made at least two arrests this weekend, both at stations in San Francisco.
The first crime and detention occurred Friday night, Bay City News reports, at SF's 16th Street Station.
According to BCN, it went down on the escalator at around 10:21 p.m.. First, a male suspect made a grab for a fellow rider's hat, police say, then "grabbed a second patron's cell phone."
The victims reported the escalator aggression, and "officers responded and located a suspect who was positively identified by the victims." The suspect, who has not been publicly identified, was booked into San Francisco County Jail on suspicion of robbery.
BART police had a second alleged miscreant to deal with in SF on Saturday night, KRON 4 reports, after an armed man menaced a group of women in Richmond.
It was 11:48 p.m. Saturday when the man allegedly approached a group of women as they stood on the platform of the Richmond station.
The man "made unwanted sexual advances" toward members of the group, police say. When the women refused his harassment, "he pulled out a knife and threatened to harm them."
The women reported the incident, and police tracked the man to SF's Embarcadero Station, Bay City News reports. There they "arrested him on suspicion of brandishing a knife and making criminal threats."
