A man was rushed to the hospital Wednesday night, the victim of an attack by a group of men in front of the Safeway grocery store near Ocean Beach.
Police say that the crime went down at 6:55 p.m., on the 800 block of La Playa Street.That block is bordered on the west side by an apartment complex, and on the east by a Safeway grocery store with the address 850 La Playa Street.
According to the San Francisco Police Department, it was there that four men in their early 20s surrounded and assaulted a 65-year-old man as he stood on the sidewalk. The group also robbed the man of his cell phone, police say.
The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries, which police say are not life-threatening. The suspects fled on foot, police say. As of Thursday morning they remain on the loose, and the SFPD confirms that no arrests have been made in the case.
