The most expensive Tahoe area property ever to hit the market, a $75 million complex in Crystal Bay, Nevada, has just hit the market, and it's bound to make you stare emptily across the room and hope for a minute that the mega-rich person who buys this is actually deeply unhappy in multiple ways.

As SFGate and the marketing video above explain, the property comes with 5.14 acres of land, 525 feet of lake frontage, 16,000 square feet of living space, eight bedrooms spread across a main house and a beach house, 10 bathrooms, 13 fireplaces, and two glass funiculars that connect the two buildings and a four-car garage pavilion above. It is named Crystal Pointe.

The main house, which features an ultra-dramatic, vaulted-ceiling great room, has lake views that appear to be more than 180 degrees. Says Chase International agent Kerry Donovan, who is one of four listing agents on the property per SF Gate, "They positioned the house to not get a piece of the view, but to get the full view from sunrise to sunset."

The "they" in this case are the original builders and owners of the estate, which was completed in 2000 for Stuart and Geri Yount (pictured here), who built it as their dream home. Stuart Yount is the Chairman and CEO of the Fortifiber building products corporation, which is based in Los Angeles, and the Younts reportedly are looking to downsize.

As the Sacramento Bee reports, while this property might have the highest listing price in local history, ultra-high-end Tahoe property "appears to be hot right now." They note that casino mogul Steve Wynn recently sold his estate in Incline Village for $31.1 million.

If Crystal Pointe sells at or near asking, it will top a previous record for the area when Thunderbird Lodge sold in 1998 for $50 million — which at the time made it the priciest residential property ever sold in the U.S.
