At least three people walking in the Tenderloin Wednesday were robbed of their jewlery, all within hours and just a few blocks.
According to the San Francisco Police Department, the first in the trio of muggings happened at 1:35 p.m. Wednesday, on the sidewalk near the intersection of Hyde and O'Farrell Streets.
Police say that a man in his 30s attacked a 63-year-old woman, throwing "her to the ground" and snatching the jewelry she was wearing.
The victim was transported to an area hospital for injuries police say are not life-threatening. The suspect fled on foot, and was last seen headed east on O'Farrell.
Just a few hours later, at 3:30, a second crime: This one near the intersection of Polk and Ellis Streets.
In that case, a man in his 30s snuck up behind his 57-year-old male victim, and "snatched his chain from his neck," police say.
The victim suffered minor injuries in the mugging, police say, but refused treatment. The suspect evaded police, and remains on the loose.
Just 15 minutes later, a third jewelry theft hit the area, this one on the 500 block of Leavenworth Street, which is between O'Farrell and Geary Streets.
In this case, two suspects, both males in their 30s, approached a 65-year-old woman who was walking on the sidewalk.
One of the men, police say, "grabbed [the victim's] purse off of her shoulder and the other ripped her necklace off of her neck."
All in all, the crime team got away with the woman's purse, sunglasses, necklace, and identification, as well the the necklace she'd been wearing.
The attack left the victim with injuries police say are not life-threatening, and she declined treatment. The suspects fled on foot, and are at large as of publication time.
Police have not confirmed if they believe the three cases to be related, but say that no arrests have been made in any of the thefts.
