The intersection of Haight and Ashbury Streets — thought of by many as ground zero of the now 50-year-old Summer of Love, was home to a much less loving encounter Monday night, the San Francisco Police Department reports.
Police say that a Park Station officer on patrol came across a 61-year-old man with a significant laceration on his face at around 8 p.m. Monday
When asked what happened by the police officer, the man responded that he was "beat up" by a man in his 50s at the famous intersection.
The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries, which police say are not life threatening.
Police say that they were unable to locate the suspect in the aggravated assault. As of Tuesday morning, no arrests have been made and the suspect remains at large.
