Just when you thought Tinder could be no shallower, TechCrunch breaks it to you that within the dating app is a secret members-only version "for celebrities and people who do really well on Tinder,” in the words of one anonymous source.
A tool for nominating hotties to Tinder Select could be their so-called "Elo" score, a reference to skill level in chess that's internally calculated by Tinder based on how often other users swipe that they're interested in you. According to TechCrunch, its not just the people that are more appealing— Tinder Select "looks way better than regular Tinder in terms of design."
Users of Tinder Select will see a navy blue 'S' at the top of their app, and can toggle between the Tinder Select layer and the regular Tinder layer, which TechCrunch speculates makes sense considering "Tinder Select may have a smaller pool of users in certain markets," which is another way of saying "in markets outside of NY and LA."
As more users join dating apps in their search for whatever it is they're looking for, welcoming apps like Tinder have given way to more "exclusive" offerings. Those include The League, which has been described as Tinder for elitists and takes into account your LinkedIn work and education information, and Raya, an app for celebs, models, and the Instagram-famous.
